Catherine Pierre

Catherine is a Secwépemc/syilx artist who is a gifted seamstress, interdisciplinary artist, writer, poet and arts educator. She holds a certificate in Indigenous Fine Arts through UVIC with a focus on Creative Writing. As an arts educator she has worked with youth and adults teaching a wide range of traditional creative arts from natural materials to printmaking to sewing. She has an award-winning book titled, Zoe and the Fawn.

About the Workshop:

Catherine Pierre offers a mixed media weaving workshop that includes both Cattails and Tule Wetlands plants with a variety of materials to embellish your own weaving. Catherine brings substantial experience as a learner and teacher. She lives within her traditional territory in the beautiful Okanagan valley and is active in arts and cultural revitalization of her syilx culture. In this workshop each participant will be able to take home their weaving project.
