Introduction to TPRS

Teaching through Stories

The TPR-Storytelling methodology for second language teaching has been successfully implemented in language classrooms worldwide. This story-based teaching method employs Classic TPR, an action-based methodology that quickly develops a core communicative vocabulary, and progresses on to speaking using stories. Chief Atahm School has developed an intensive training program to help Indigenous language teachers build successful language programs through utilizing action-based, innovative teaching strategies. During this institute each participant will be provided with training through lectures, modeling, activities, and multimedia presentations to help develop skills specific to TPR-S. Dr. Kathryn Michel’s First Nations Language Essentials Level One (2018, FNSA/FNESC) will be used as the framework for this institute.
